Operating in a highly regulated and global market, the company combines commercial agility with strong compliance and governance standards and is currently expanding its legal capabilities to support further growth.
Description
As Junior Legal Counsel, you will support the legal and commercial teams on a broad range of operational matters. Your responsibilities will include drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a variety of commercial agreements such as sale and purchase contracts, charter party documentation, trade finance instruments, memoranda of understanding, and non?disclosure agreements.
You will monitor legal and regulatory developments impacting the energy and commodities sector, including international sanctions regimes, and contribute to the maintenance and updating of internal policies. The role also involves supporting KYC and onboarding procedures, assisting with compliance-related reviews, and participating in the handling of operational disputes relating to quality, quantity, demurrage, and insurance claims. Legal research and analysis in support of business decisions will be an integral part of your daily work.
Profile

Master's degree in Law (MLaw); admission to the bar or equivalent legal qualification is a strong advantage.

Academic or professional focus in international trade, commodities, or maritime law, a strong advantage

Between 1 and 3 years of relevant experience gained within a trading company, shipping group, or a law firm active in commodities.

Solid understanding of Incoterms 2020 and international sale contracts.

Practical knowledge of shipping and maritime law concepts.

Familiarity with trade finance instruments, including letters of credit.

Full professional fluency in English (written and spoken).

French: solid understanding required.

Able to work autonomously while integrating effectively into a small, collaborative team.

Detail?oriented, reliable, and comfortable operating in a fast?moving commercial environment.

High professional standards, strong sense of responsibility, and sound judgment.
